I was bored today and had an inner impulse to make a hay net. I decided to make it my first tutorial!
For the first step you need to have 10 strands of embroidery floss, and they need to be cut into about 15" strands. I cut mine way to long, at about 24 inches. I ended up cutting off like 6 inches at the end. I also made my diamonds way to big for 1:9 scale as well.
For the next step, knot it in the middle. If you need a guide, fold it in half and mark with your finger.
Next, you are going to separate your strings and knot two of them together, then repeat all the way around.
After you have completed that, you will do the same thing but with different strings that are on the other side to get the diamond effect.
Repeat the step above to get the desired length
Afterwards, on the same strings tie some knots about 1/2 of an inch away.
Then, weave a string in between your knots.
Once you weave all the way through, tie a knot at a reasonable spot so you can still undo the bag to add in our hay!
For the hay, I glued two marbles together, cut up raffia, glued the raffia to the marbles, and stuck it in the hay net
And you're done! I hope you enjoyed this and it inspires you to make your own, because model horses need hay too, right? 🐴
